How to Use AnythingLLM and DeepSeek to Create Private Agents

1. Tool Positioning and Division of Labor
AnythingLLM : An open-source local knowledge base tool that supports document management, private deployment, and integration with multiple models.
DeepSeek : Provides high-performance large models (such as DeepSeek-R1 and DeepSeek-MoE) to enhance question-answering capabilities via APIs or on-premises deployment.
Use AnythingLLM to manage documents and handle front-end interactions, and invoke DeepSeek’s models to process complex reasoning tasks.
2. Register a DeepSeek account
DeepSeek Official Website https://www.deepseek.com/ After registering an account, click “API Open Platform” in the upper-right corner of the homepage. 
Click “API keys” to create API keys (this process requires real-name verification), copy the key, and save it securely. 
3. Install AnythingLLM on your computer
Enter https://anythingllm.com/desktop , select the corresponding version, download it, and install. After installation is complete, click “Create New Workspace” and give it any name you like.

Click this upload button to upload the documents you wish to analyze; you can upload multiple files at once. 
Click to select a file or drag and drop a file to upload. 
After the upload is successful, select the uploaded file and click MOVE TO WORKSPACE. 
Then click SAVE AND EMBED, and once you receive the success prompt, you can close this page. 
Click the wrench icon in the bottom-left corner to open settings. 
Click on LLM Preferences, locate DEEPSEEK, and paste the API key you just created in DEEPSEEK into the API KEY field. 
After you’re done, click this Settings button.
Change “LLM click” to “DEEPSEEK.” 
Then you can start chatting. 
Note: A CNY 10 credit will be gifted upon DeepSeek registration. You need to top up your token after it’s used up, but it’s very affordable. With normal usage, you’ll probably only spend the equivalent of a cup of bubble tea per month.
